LANE KIFFIN USCs New Head Coach

Today USC announced LANE KIFFIN will replace PETE CARROLL who just left to become the Head Coach and Team President of the Seattle Seahawks. KIFFIN only coached one year at Tennessee before leaving for USC. There may have been a clause in his contract allowing an easier release if the USC job was offered. Also following LANE to Los Angeles are his father MONTE KIFFIN, the well respected defensive coordinator, and former USC recruiting coordinator ED ORGERON. Also stay tuned. There are rumblings that KIFFIN will lure former USC Offensive coordinator NORM CHOW, who is currently employed by cross-town rival UCLA. The football situation in Los Angeles is definitely getting interesting.

MIKE LEACH fired by Texas Tech

Texas Tech took the compulsory step of firing MIKE LEACH "for cause" from his position as head football coach this morning. This seemed inevitable after the school suspended LEACH pending an investigation into the treatment of Tech player Adam James, who suffered a concussion and was allegedly placed in a confined area twice by the coach. This ends a long strange relationship between Tech and LEACH who last year, after much squabbling, entered into a new 5 year 12.7 million dollar contract that was set to run through 2013. LEACH was due an eight hundred thousand dollar bonus if still employed on Dec 31 2009. This firing seems to come at a convenient time for the university. A legal battle will definitely ensue between LEACH and the Texas Tech. Here is the official statement from the University.

LES prevails in the Tiger Bowl

In a battle that will prove important in the SEC west, LES MILES and his #6 LSU tigers prevailed over TOMMY TUBERVILLE and his #10 Auburn Tigers. In a barn burner that had more twists and turns than a bayou back road, LSU came back from a 4th quarter deficit to take the lead with one minute left, winning 26-21.

Lose game. No problem sign multi-year contract

West Virginia Head Ball Coach BILL STEWART despite loss to East Carolina signs multi-year contract. The six year deal will pay STEWART $800,000 this year and includes annual increases of $50,000. STEWART was named the Mountaineers head ball coach on January 3, 2008, after leading West Virginia to a 48-28 upset victory over No. 3 Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Stewart replaced RICH RODRIGUEZ, who left to become the new head coach at Michigan after their attempts to woo LESS MILES were unsuccessful.

RICK NEUHEISEL - There's a new Old Ball Coach in town.

Former UCLA Quarterback and Rose Bowl MVP, RICK NEUHEISEL is back at his alma mater as the Head Ball Coach. And boy is he back. After the UCLA Athletic Department ran the ad seen to the right in the Los Angeles times, and seemingly bit off more than NEUHEISEL could chew, he and his Bruins backed it up and sent a shot that must have been heard across town. In a big test Monday night vs No.18 Tennessee, NEUHEISEL's Bruins, lead by third string quarterback Kevin Craft, played the Vols close and despite four first half interceptions came away with a 27-24 victory in overtime. It is just the first game of the season, but what a way to start for NEUHEISEL. Even Old PETE must have raised an eyebrow at this one. December 6th is starting to look better by the minute.

JIM TRESSEL Receives 1 Million Dollar raise

GAILEY fired after six seasons at Tech

CHAN GAILEY'S tenure as Georgia Tech's football coach has ended after six seasons. Athletics director Dan Radakovich made the announcement at a news conference today. "I informed CHAN GAILEY at 10 o'clock this morning that he was relieved of his duties as Georgia Tech football coach effective immediately," Radakovich said.

Nebraska fires CALLAHAN

LINCOLN, Neb. AP— BILL CALLAHAN was fired as Nebraska's coach Saturday, his four-year stay marked by the most embarrassing losses at a football program once among the mightiest in the nation.

BILL is a good football coach. He will find another job that more suits his philosophy. A more important move was the replacement of Nebraska's AD Steve Pederson with Former Nebraska Head Coach, the Great TOM OSBORNE. Pederson disgraced college football when he fired FRANK SOLICH, stating he felt that the program was falling behind the times. Nebraska had a major college football monopoly on the option, combined with years of accumulated knowledge on how to run it. I hope they go back to it.
